Many cities are eliminating plastic shopping carryout bags, but they have failed to address the fact that on most trips to the market we also use 6 to 8 plastic produce bags. Our Reusable Produce Bags eliminate the need for plastic bags. They are made of UNBLEACHED ORGANIC COTTON material. Although higher in cost, unbleached organic cotton provides huge benefits to the environment and our health, because it avoids the highly toxic pesticides, fertilizers and processing chemicals used in regular cotton crops. Reusable Produce Bags are great for bulk foods and small fruits and vegetables. They can be used for both shopping and storage, as the cotton material allows for good air circulation. I switched to reusable grocery bags several years ago, but I hated using the plastic produce bags. I could have just as easily made these myself, as they are about as complicated as a pillow case with a drawstring, but buying them was quick and easy. They are great for our weekly shopping trips. I no longer have to feel guilty about bringing home those stupid plastic bags and finding a use for them. Plus, these hold a lot more produce and are a lot more heavy duty. I bought two 3-packs of the large size and they are perfect. I can usually fit about 5-6 large white onions or 8-10 good-sized apples in a bag. I don't bother trying to deduct the weight of the bags, they are so light anyway. I'm not sure how a cashier would react to them since we check ourselves out at our local Meijer stores. If they didn't like them I'd just say too bad, because people really do need to learn to be less wasteful. These are totally washable and work great for just about anything. Some might argue that the bags at the store are free and these cost quite a bit of money for what they are, but it's not always about the cost savings as it is about getting away from the disposable mentality and reusing as much stuff as we can.

Nice set of bags but most of the stores where I shop were not happy with them. so instead of arguing with the clerks, I use them at home to store my produce and they are fine for that.

I bought the bags to use as a salad spinner/drier. I used it last night and made a great salad. No wet greens! I got the idea from Martha Stewart who uses Muslin sheets and folds it up and spins it. With the bags you can just drop it in, pull the draw string and spin.. outside. Thanks

I love these bags. They have been great for helping cut down on all those plastic bags we end up with. Washable too which is great. The weight of the bag is printed on a tag attached to the bag which makes things easier, you just have to remind the checker to subtract it since the bags do weigh more than plastic.

I bought these to use as produce/grain bags and they are perfect! The 3 different sizes are convenient and the tare weight is sewed onto a tag on the side of the bag, so the cashier can deduct it easily. They're light enough though, that a lot of the time I don't even remember to have them deduct the tare weight, and it doesn't make much of a difference.
