 Do Not Order - problem with Manufacturer May 24, 2008

Finely ground sea salt is often recommended by physicians to help with swelling in your feet or legs and also is wonderful if you have high blood pressure. I am not a doctor but our doctor recommended we swap. So I ordered it, it was very expensive compared to regular table salt. Amazon was great through it all, however, I ordered 5 cartons. When we received it all of the plastic bottoms of the cartons had come undone and all the salt was spilled out in the box. I immediately called Amazon, they told me not to worry about sending it back, they would replace it at no charge which was wonderful. However I get the second shipment it was worse than the first all the bottoms off and a couple of cartons appeared as though they had burst open. This was like 27 bucks for salt. So I called back again Amazon was great. We agreed to credit my account and cancel the salt from the order. I would recommend using a different vendor. Want to make certain to say Amazon was awesome it wasn't their fault they provided excellent customer service through it all.

Decent product, poor packaging May 8, 2008

The salt itself is fine, but the containers are cardboard tubes with plastic ends inserted, and the plastic inserts can pop out during shipment spilling the salt all over the box. I had a couple of damaged containers in one shipment but kept it because it was still a decent price for the undamaged ones. But on two other orders UPS did not deliver because the package was "damaged in transit" which I presume means it was leaking salt. If the containers were packaged to avoid this problem it would be a five star product.

This sea salt is very flavorful. A pretty good price for the money. The only problem we had was with shipping. Two of the shakers had burst open and salt was inside the box and it could have damaged another non-grocery item that was shipped with it. Amazon was very fair and reimbursed me for the two shakers so that I didn't have to send the entire package back.

First let me preface a bit of redemption from Amazon with the same deplorable experience from the product fulfillment department reported in the last 2 reviews. But let's be clear that it's not the manufacturer to blame here so still 4 stars is applicable as it's clear from the white crystals stuck to the lining tape that this is quality salt. To that let me add that for the 1/5 of my product that was damaged I got a refund for 40% (that is 2 out of the 5 cannisters were exploded). Now for a little more past testimonial redemption: if a customer demands it Amazon will replace the food product without any returns but face it how much salt can anybody use.
This rule is not true with another fairly precious little fruit sold by Amazon called Goji berries. (check out the cost for yourself - Organic Nectars Raw Tibetan Goji Berries, 8-Ounce Bags (Pack of 3). So awhile back when the offer first appeared from Amazon prime it was 10 lb. for $114; it was later corrected to 8.9 lb and now that offer has gone to the grave also. Now for that price so you can believe this was a good deal so I went in on a bag with a friend who is really more the enthusiast, cyclists really love these berries. Then the bag arrives in a couple days and it turns out the supposed 10lb bag is only 6.8lb and my friend was really PO'd. So I tell him to chill; it's no problem Amazon will take care of it. I call up CS, or they call me as it is, and tell them of the situation, they check it out and sure enough they realize they're 3.2lb shy of the deal. So there was one idea to refund me the % missing but that was really not working on my end so I told them, 'No I want the missing 3.2lb' which they had in stock from the same company, in .2lb bags even. But that's not company policy so it turns out that they tell me, 'No, we're going to send you another 6.8lb bag.' 'Well OK, whatever you say Amazon' at this point my friend is becoming more like an enemy so this works for me. They do send another bag with a bad packing job and the whole bag bursts spilling Goji berries everywhere even out of the box (bear in mind at this point Amazon is out 114 for the mistake plus about another 50 for the extra). So again a call from CS, 'Well our company policy on food is to refund you after a second attempt fails' and I fully believe they would have. But the friend who's really angry now is also a germophobe and he won't go near the busted sack; this doesn't solve my issue since it's mostly his $. 'Anyway,' I'm actually reasoning with them, in India now where Goji berries are sought with the passion of belly dancers, 'It would cost you more than triple the worth of yet another 6.8lb bag of berries to refund me that money', all told potentially putting Amazon out 114 plus the worth of the berries which would've totaled their loss at $396 (at the rate they now sell the berries for). As it was they did send another bag that arrived intact so after all they lost more than 150 but not the 400 worth I could've gotten from them.
Point being, you will get what you paid for in food value from this company. Just consider your options, if it's salt, you can take a refund and if it really makes you angry then get a call from CS and let them know. And what may help even more is when they send you that annoying email asking you to validate their ineptitude you can click on the 'No my issue was not resolved link and really let them have it.' Personally this one does make me angry a bit so I will follow up on the issue until they resolve it with decent packaging and some that doesn't include multitudes of plastic bags to send cell phones overseas (if I even had one to give I would but 7 bags is beyond reason). There's a link to the only reasonable deal on Goji berries left here too, bonus, you can learn to like them:)

This is a terrific price on sea salt, however Amazon really needs to either shrink-wrap the canisters or just slap a piece of tape over the top. Same thing happened to me as did the unhappy reviewer; 4 out of 5 cans were open and salted the ground all the way from the shipper to our door. (good thing we ordered in Winter!) Amazon has replaced the failed item but I just hope the replacement will not suffer the same fate!
